The film was shot on historic Independence Square in Independence, Missouri, which actually looks like the square year-round. The locations that served as the Higman family’s store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ restaurant are also family-owned stores in real life.

“A Chiefs Love Story” continues that trend

6.7/10 (Recommended) While Hallmark movies remain cheesy, and sometimes a little unrealistic in their romance capabilities, 2024 has proven to be a wonderful year for Christmas romance. I’m not a football fan and I’m a little sick of hearing about the Chiefs, but in all honesty, this movie was incredible. It’s very emotional (I may have cried a few times) and has a cast that works really well together. The chemistry between Hunter King and Tyler Hynes was obvious from the get-go.

She takes her role seriously

As soon as they got those twinkle in their eyes, I knew this movie was going to be good. Hunter especially gives a spectacular performance. She’s visually shaken and upset when she needs to be, which makes the drive worth it. Some Hallmark actresses don’t do that and so for me, she stands out.

Overall, this movie is a must-see for Hallmark movie fans

The story is fantastic and told as if it were a real family affair, but given the traditions and superstitions of sports families, there’s no doubt this situation happens in private life, year after year. This movie is a little different in that it focuses on a family that loves two individuals instead, which makes it more sympathetic, I think. You don’t even have to like sports or football to understand what’s going on. You just have to believe that love can manifest itself in mysterious ways, and sometimes those mysterious ways come in the form of superstitions and Christmas magic.
