When Albert watches Hydee sing and play guitar, it is very obvious that she is not even touching the strings half the time. Featured in The Big Week: Episode #1.13 (2024). Not once was I bored. Not once did I find any inconsistencies. The sets and scenery were breathtaking. The acting never took me out of the story, it keeps you there from beginning to end. French cinema produces a lot of forgettable films (in my opinion), a lot of fun films, a few great ones and here and there a film that really makes me love cinema and theatre. The Count of Monte Cristo is one of the latter. I rarely find a film that depicts love, friendship, betrayal, courage, loneliness, caring, revenge and so much more, at least in a decent way. Nothing felt rushed to me. The three hours were worth it and I felt like it was less than two. I encourage you to watch this film, it has many qualities and it will not be a waste of time. Now, if you are a Dumas enthusiast, your opinion will certainly differ.
